TAP Grant - Air Line Trail - Informational Meeting

-A A +A

The Town of Pomfret, in conjunction with N.E. Connecticut Council of Governments, has been awarded a 5.3 million dollar grant to complete seven road crossings along the Air Line Trial between Route 169 and Putnam. Bridges would be constructed over Route 44/169 and Needles Eye Road.  Culverts are proposed under Holmes Road, Modock Road and River Road. Wrights Crossing Road, and Town Farm Road will have at-grade crossing improvements.  This project is part of the 'big picture' plan on the part of the State of CT DEEP to improve the trail from the State line to Willimantic and beyond.

Please join us on Thursday, February 8, 2017 at 7:00 PM - Pomfret Community School Cafeteria to learn more about this project and how it impacts the town.  Ask questions of those involved - NECCOG, CT DEEP, CT DOT, and Weston & Sampson Engineering.  Conceptual drawings of the crossings will be on display.  Information will also be available on how this grant/funding will work.

Not familiar with the trail and would like to learn more?  Access the link below and learn about the many recreational opportunities offered by this linear State Park.

Approvals will still be needed from various Pomfret Boards and at a future Town Meeting.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to ask questions and get the facts before this question is brought before the Town.

Refeshments will be provided!
