Spring Roadside Cleanup April 13

Positively Pomfret!

Pomfret Green Team Collaborates with The Last Green Valley for Spring Roadside Cleanup

Every April, we set aside one weekend and urge Pomfret residents to celebrate EARTH DAY with a trash bag and a pair of gloves.  Choose your own road or another that needs some TLC!

This year, the Green Team is joining forces with The Last Green Valley who is
sponsoring a region wide Cleanup / Green Up in our National Heritage Corridor.  Last year, 1,600 volunteers participated in 41 cleanups funded by TLGV, collecting 76,908 pounds of trash. Pomfret’s effort will be included and recognized in 2024.

This year's cleanup is targeted for April 13th (or at your convenience). The Green Team sets up a table at PCS from 8:00 am to 11:00 AM on Roadside Cleanup Day, handing out bags, gloves, orange vests, and if needed, a road cleanup assignment.  Free coffee and donuts are also available!

The Green Team encourages everyone to recycle as much as possible by putting recyclables (plastic, glass, and cans) into a clear bag and trash into a black bag.  You can leave the filled bags at a convenient road corner and the Pomfret Department of Public Works will pick them up on the following Monday for proper disposal.  If you'd like to sign up for a particular road, send your request to the Green Team at pomfretgt@gmail.com or show up at PCS.

Stay safe, wear bright colors, and have fun!
