Deadline for August 13 Primary

Transfering parties

Connecticut has a primary for state, district, and municipal offices for both Democrats and Republicans which is set for August 13, 2024, if needed.

There will be Early Voting available for the upcoming primary. Those dates are August 5 to August 11, 2024, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, EXCEPT for August 6 and August 8, when EXTENDED early voting hours apply from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Therefore, now is the time to transfer from one party to another to be eligible to vote in the primary of the new party. The last day to do so is Monday, May 13, 2024 (three months prior to the primary date).  If you wish to vote during the early voting period, you must file an enrollment change by Thursday, May 2.

If you are registered as unaffiliated, you may choose to register in a party to vote up until noon the day before the primary (Monday, August 12). If you wish to vote during early voting you must register to vote by Friday, August 2.  We hope that you will register before then, however.
