Taft Pond Road Bridge Weight Limited to 3 Tons, NO TRUCKS.

A recent CT DOT inspection of the Taft Pond Road bridge revealed structural issues that required the weigh limit  to be reduced from 36 tons to 3 tons. This is a significant restriction to use of the bridge, but will allow cars to utilize the bridge, however no trucks will be allowed. 

The Town is investigating alternative options to either remediate the problems or replace the bridge.  This process will take several months and a replacement, if necessary, will take several years.  An interim fix with a lower weight limit will be put in place if the bridge ultimately does need replacement.  Please use caution.  If the weight limit is not observed, the bridge will be closed to all traffic.
