“Discover how to create a thriving habitat for pollinators and wildlife in the Conservation Commission’s Garden Guide

The Pomfret Conservation Commission is committed to preserving local ecosystems and the natural beauty of our town. Pollinators like bees, butterflies, and birds play a critical role in our surrounding environment and help maintain ecosystem function. Together, we can preserve biodiversity in Pomfret by supporting the pollinators and wildlife that live here year-round or those migrating through.

Rewarding Results

Only two months after planting the Pollinator Garden at the Pomfret Community Center, several monarch caterpillars were found on the newly installed milkweed plants. Watching a caterpillar transform into the chrysalis stage, and emerge as a monarch, shows how quickly a native pollinator garden can make an impact. The photo series above captured the transformation of one of the monarchs in the Community Center garden.
