Solar System Permitting & Inspection

Pomfret is adopting best practices for Solar System Permitting & Inspection with the intent to simplify and streamline the process.  The link to the attached document will guide the home owner, business owner, or contractor through the steps needed for roof mounted or ground mount solar systems:

All building permits in Pomfret (including roof mounted and ground mounted solar systems) can be completed on line through Permit Link. While ground mounted systems require a Zoning permit and potentially an Inland Wetlands permit, the process for roof mounted systems only requires a building permit.

The Building Officer will review/approve roof mounted solar system building permits within 3 business days.  One on-site inspection is required for roof mounted systems and up to two inspections are required for ground and pole mounted systems - see attached link for more information:
